We would encourage our local members and school reps to ensure that their school leadership team is providing them with the school calendar for the next academic year and a copy of the 1265 calculation. This calculation should show that the maximum number of hours that any member of staff with be asked to work is within the 1265 hour limit for the whole academic year.

In most schools, this should be a case of knocking on an open door. Many schools are seeing shortages of available people in key teaching areas and they often struggle to operate with rarely cover when staff are ill. It is in all our interests to maintain a healthy life-work balance and keep stress and over ambitious workloads to a minimum.
